Warning Issued to Google Chrome Users by CERT (Government)

Users of the Google Chrome Internet browser have been issued a ‘high severity warning by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In). According to the alert, a remote attacker might exploit numerous vulnerabilities in the Google Chrome browser to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system. The Indian Emergency Response Team is basically the establishment of the government of India that is within the Ministry of physical science and data Technology. 

Advisory by CERT 

CERT has reported an advisory which mentions that “There are many vulnerabilities that exist in the google chrome”. These vulnerabilities include varied elements which as file API, autofill, developer tools, window manager, UI, screen capture”. Google has already patched these flaws in its most recent Chrome update, and CERT-In has advised users to update their browsers as soon as possible. 

The software giant said it has released 22 security patches to close the holes and prevent hackers from remotely controlling users’ computers while also protecting their privacy. According to Google, “external researchers” identified these fixes. 

According to the alert, a remote attacker might exploit numerous vulnerabilities in the Google Chrome browser to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system. 

Update to Enhance Privacy 

Google has already supplied a patch for those vulnerabilities in its maximum current Chrome software program update, and its miles enormously advocated that customers transfer to the maximum current model as quickly as possible. According to Google, the up-to-date Chrome browser consists of 22 sorts of safety updates that try to enhance personal privacy. Chrome users should update to the current version, according to the government alert and Google.  

Google lately upgraded Chrome for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Alongside, by clicking the three vertical dots in the top right corner of the page, one can check for available updates and update Chrome. It will update if you select the About Chrome option. 

Here’s how to get the latest version of Chrome: 

  • Click on the Google Chrome web browser. 
  • In the top right corner, click three little dots. 
  •  Move the pointer to help, which will reveal a menu of options. 
  • When you click the button, the browser will display the build and begin upgrading it 
  • After this, you will have to restart your google chrome. By doing so, you will be able to use the upgraded browser, which will provide improved protection against online threats.
